Bard

No, I'm not talking about a poet

Why is bard so bad
Why is bard not working
Why is bard better than chatgpt
Why is bard ai so bad
Why is bard not loading

These are some of the messages that pop up when you type “why is bard”. For those unfamiliar, Bard is Google’s AI-chatbot powered by Google’s LLM, LaMDA.

Interestingly, before my pivot to the GPT-4 LLM—a remarkable model in the realm of AI—Bard was my go-to for various natural language tasks. However, after some side-by-side analysis, GPT-4's capabilities seemed more robust, leading me to shift my allegiance.

Within the AI community, ChatGPT is a well-acknowledged name, frequently discussed in conversations about next-gen AI technologies, especially LLMs. In contrast, Bard seems less recognized, prompting my dive into deeper research.

A basic online search revealed a clear distinction: Bard shines in conversational AI and excels in generating creative content like poetry and scripts. GPT-4, however, is optimized for text analytics, producing detailed and well-structured responses, showcasing its versatility in diverse tasks.

Why the spotlight on ChatGPT then?

Two main factors come into play. First, looking at the timelines: ChatGPT was introduced in November 2022, well before Bard's debut in February 2023 and its subsequent release a month later. Even though Google has been a stalwart in AI research, OpenAI's groundbreaking innovations, like GPT-3.5, have set high standards that overshadow newer entrants, particularly if their strengths are different.

Secondly, GPT-4's attributes seem to align better with popular interest. The broader audience values precision, intelligence, and analytical strength. Bard, while creative, can occasionally show inconsistencies, which might reduce its broad appeal.

To sum up, from a technical standpoint, I currently lean towards GPT-4. What about you? Are you more intrigued by the analytical prowess of ChatGPT or the creative capabilities of Google's Bard?

Happy coding :p
